Last weekend (12th and 13th October 2024), Sarawak was buzzing with excitement as both international and local celebrities lit up the stage at the Sarawak Stadium for the Borneo Sonic Music Festival (BSMF) 2024. The event, known as Borneo’s biggest music festival, featured a sensational lineup of artists, including a strong K-pop presence.
This year, popular K-pop singers Jessi (제시) and Rain (비) headlined the music festival on each day. While many memorable moments were captured during their performances, one particular moment during Jessi’s performance went viral due to her interaction with the local audience. Here’s what happened:

In a recent viral TikTok video posted by user @/sievv.vvei_ on 13th October, Jessi is seen interacting with local fans during a break in her performance. The Korean-American rapper asked the audience how to say “I love you” in Sarawakian, to which the crowd responded with “Kamek sayang kitak.” However, Jessi didn’t quite catch it, so she approached a local cameraman nearby to ask again.
Startled by the sudden question, the cameraman appeared confused and unsure of how to respond. Jessi repeated her question, emphasising “I love you.” To everyone’s amusement, the cameraman confidently replied, “I love you too,” causing the audience to burst into laughter. After the humorous moment, the cameraman gathered himself and taught Jessi the correct pronunciation. The “NUNU NANA” singer finally shouted “Kamek sayang kitak” and jokingly remarked that the sentence was long and difficult to say.

Many local netizens were amused by the interaction, with some joking that the cameraman took the opportunity to flirt with Jessi. Others praised him for his unexpected “rizz” and confidence, while some fans were surprised to learn that the superstar was in Sarawak for the concert.
