Everyone knows that making fun of religion is a big no-no. Unfortunately, some people – like this woman – still do it for their 15 minutes of infamy.
In a viral video, an unnamed woman gave a “tutorial” to make pork halal, or permissible, for Muslim consumption. Donning a hijab and a pair of sunglasses, the woman said the method to make pork halal is to “say bismillah and recite the Al-Fatihah prayer before eating”. After reading the prayer out loud, the woman proceeds to consume the slice of pork she prepared.

Pork is categorised in Islam as haram, or forbidden, to consume by Muslims, regardless of preparation. Unsurprisingly, the video angered many Muslims who believed the woman was making fun of Islam and disrespecting the religion by belittling the Islamic belief of halal and haram. The comment section also revealed the woman to be Dewi Bulan, a controversial content creator from Indonesia.
According to news sources, Dewi is an Indonesian native but now resides in the United States. She had previously created content belittling and disrespecting Islam. Not much information regarding the video’s origin is known, nor if any action against Dewi has been taken for her video. Earlier this year, another Muslim Indonesian TikToker was slammed by netizens after uploading a video of her consuming pork skin after saying bismillah.
Let’s hope people will know better than to follow Dewi’s “halal” method for consuming pork.
