Exerting confidence on stage is easy for K-pop idols after years of training to become a superstar. However, no amount of showmanship and media training can prepare these singers for certain social situations.
It’s been known by MOAs (Tomorrow X Together/TXT fans) that Soobin (수빈) is the most introverted member of his group despite being the leader. In a short clip that’s going viral, many pointed out how he and eldest member Yeonjun (연준) are polar opposites of each other in a social setting.
In the latest episode of TXT’s “TO DO” show on their official YouTube channel, each members were assigned to cook a certain dish and had to buy the ingredients themselves. At one point during the episode, MOAs noticed a jarring personality difference between Soobin and Yeonjun while they were out buying ingredients at a local supermarket.
Soobin was unsure about which kind of starch he should use for his assigned dish. The idol’s eyes widened with fear when the production staff behind the camera advised him to ask the store owner about the products. “I can’t talk to strangers,” he said while smiling nervously before adding that he couldn’t even order a burger on his own when he was younger.
Meanwhile, Yeonjun was seen moments later greeting every elderly stranger he saw as he was walking around the supermarket. These two particular scenes went viral on Twitter with fans being amused by how the two singers behave in social situations. Many could relate to Soobin’s social anxiety saying that they need an outgoing friend like Yeonjun with them whenever they’re in public.
One MOA pointed out that this isn’t the first evidence of the 23-year-old’s social anxiety as he previously did not correct a server at a restaurant when they got his drink order wrong. Rather than speaking up, he unwillingly accepted the drink and struggled to finish it.
