In a courtroom heavy with unspoken tension, two familiar faces from Malaysian entertainment arrived with hearts carrying very different weights. For Kamal Adli, it was a final stand to protect the marriage he believes can still be saved. For Uqasha Senrose, it was the moment she walked firmly toward an ending she had already accepted.
The couple, who married in 2021, arrived separately at the Federal Territories Syariah Lower Court in Kuala Lumpur today (19th November, Wednesday), for their ongoing divorce proceedings. As the case entered its third mention, it drew significant media attention.
Kamal told reporters that he had not met or spoken to Uqasha for nearly two months and appealed to the public for prayers. Despite the actress’s firm intention to end the marriage, he expressed his resolve to defend their relationship, saying his priority was the well-being of their young daughter.
The 39-year-old actor shared that the hearing marked the first time he had seen his wife in almost two months. “I am well today, please pray for the best for us. If Uqasha stands with her decision, I am also with my decision. It has been almost two months since I last saw her, and today is the first time we have met. I still can’t contact her. My child needs her father and mother.” The actor arrived with his lawyer, Abdul Hadi Mohammad Salleh, accompanied by several friends believed to be offering support.
The actress, however, reaffirmed her determination to proceed with the separation. Arriving earlier with her lawyer, mother and sister, she kept her remarks brief, stating, “I am determined. Pray that everything is eased.” Her presence underscored the firm stance she has maintained since filing for divorce on 1st October.
The 33-year-old actress later elaborated on her reasons, explaining that she had made every effort to mend the marriage. “I have tried to fix this marriage; I tried my best. I even met Kamal’s family first to help me repair and defend our marriage. I discussed with them, and both families agreed to give Kamal another chance. But that chance was wasted. So I am determined to separate. After being taken for granted, I feel it is best for me and my child to leave a situation that harms us mentally and physically. I want to save myself and my child from harm,” she said.
Her lawyer, Syariah counsel Muhammad Syazmee Sapian, confirmed that both parties would next meet officials at the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI). He explained, “Today is the third proceeding, and both parties brought their JKP (Conciliatory Committee) representatives. There will be a date to meet at JAWI for discussions. The JAWI meeting will take place before the next proceeding, which is on 18th December.”
The couple married on 5th November 2021 in Janda Baik, Pahang, and share a daughter, Hawra Uqaira, now one year and seven months old. We wish both Kamal and Uqasha strength and clarity as they navigate the journey ahead.
