Biduanita Negara Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza is one of Malaysia’s biggest, if not the biggest, icons. The singer has had an extraordinary career and achieved countless milestones. Although she has no plans to slow down just yet, sadly, there will come a day when the vocalist will leave the stage for good.
During her recent visit to Singapore, the mother of two attended the Iftar in Ramadhan Light event, held at the Furama Riverfront Hotel. While speaking with the audience, she shared what she plans to do once she’s ready to retire. Here’s what she said:
In a video posted by TikTok user @/yukfendi, Siti Nurhaliza revealed that she has a desire to move to Mecca and hopes for the day that she will no longer perform on stage. “Whatever we do, we do it because of God. Even when I sing, I think of God. Over the years, people have said to me that a woman’s voice is considered her ‘aurat’, but whatever it is, I leave it to God,” she told the crowd.
The singer then added that she has been praying for the day to come when she can retire from the entertainment industry to focus on other matters. “Perhaps by then, I could focus on doing more charity work. I’ve also always dreamed of living in Mecca. I want to spend the rest of my days there. That’s my dream,” she said. Although it’s highly unlikely she’ll retire anytime soon, Siti’s revelation has left fans feeling sad about the future where they would no longer see her enjoying herself onstage entertaining.
However, some showed support for the singer’s desire to retire, stating that her cosmetic business is already enough to support her family for the rest of her life. Others applauded the icon for using her talents not only to entertain but also to help those in need, as she has always been known for her philanthropy.
It may be a while before that day comes, but regardless, we wish nothing but the best for Siti Nurhaliza. May she achieve all her dreams and find happiness.
