Earlier this year, Hong Kong actress Selena Lee (李施嬅) announced her split from longtime boyfriend, Anson Cha (车崇健), ultimately calling off their three-year engagement. Months later, the star got candid about her romance with the fitness trainer and what led to their separation.
Selena and Anson are currently starring in the fifth season of MangoTV’s “See You Again”, a reality show where estranged celebrity couples go on a trip together to try and reconcile. This show marks the first time the ex-couple publicly reunited since splitting eight months ago. During the show, Selena and Anson revealed that they still have lingering feelings for each other, which is why they wanted to fix their relationship.
On the show, Selena revealed that she and Anson have split up many times during their eight-year romance. She said, “We kept breaking up, and he would always come back saying he would change. It repeated so many times.” The actress shared that Anson once tried to win her back after a brief separation by buying her 99 red roses. Shockingly, Selena said he then proposed to her, despite them recently breaking up.
As for why the pair called it quits after so many years together, Selena lamented that she could no longer trust her partner, citing his habit of “acting first and asking for permission later”. The 44-year-old revealed that Anson once invited his friends to stay at her home, but let them sleep in her room without letting her know beforehand. Selena said Anson even tried to hide the truth from her, leading to her distrust in him.
Additionally, the actress said that Anson seemed too occupied with his work and showed no concern for her, even during difficult times. Selena revealed that, in 2022, she underwent four eye surgeries due to thyroid-related problems. Since she had to be out of work to recover, her finances took a hit. However, she lamented that Anson never asked if she needed financial support after she spent so much money on her surgeries.
