Pets are more than just your furry companions as many have considered them to be family. Celebrities (especially) are prone to splurge on their beloved cats by showering them with expensive toys and cute costumes, or even treat them to a fine dining experience.
However, some may have gone overboard with how much money they spend on their feline friend. It’s no surprise that celebrity entrepreneur Haliza Maysuri love to spoil her cat Money but netizens felt like the money she spent on her “youngest child” could be used for something better. Here’s what happened:
Over the weekend, Haliza Maysuri held a grand celebration for her cat Money’s 7th birthday at an unspecified Louis Vuitton outlet in Kuala Lumpur, making it possibly the first and only cat in Malaysia to have celebrated its birthday at the luxury boutique. As seen in the screenshots above, Money donned a custom-made dress by designer Dato’ Rizalman Ibrahim and was showered with lavish gifts (worth RM17,400) and a cake!
“It was an honour for us as a family to be able to bring Money into the mall because she’s basically like our youngest child 😍,” the business owner wrote in one of her posts. While there were many fans who excitedly wished the cat a happy birthday, some were upset about the celeb’s excessive spending on her pet. In the comments, netizens suggested that the money could’ve been used on more important things like charity.
Others reminded her that as a Muslim, she should spend her money more moderately. There were also those who pointed out that Louis Vuitton is one of the many brands that’s part of the BDS boycott list and called out the fashion mogul for being ignorant of the ongoing issues in the Middle East. A few commented that they’d be blocking the entrepreneur on social media for her insensitivity.
