Many stars have transitioned from being on television screens to being active on social media, sharing various content, like daily vlogs and cooking videos. One of those stars is Hong Kong singer Gillian Chung (鍾欣潼) – but some netizens are now calling her out for faking her content.
Recently, the 44-year-old shared a cooking video on her social media to teach fans how to prepare a delicious, diet-friendly meal. The meat-stuffed peppers are also cooked using the air fryer, making it a no-stove recipe. In the video, Gillian prepared the ingredients and made the dish alone. The video quickly gained attention, but also sparked debate on whether she faked the cooking portion.

In the comment section, some sharp-eyed netizens pointed out some discrepancies between the full-frame shots of Gillian in the kitchen and the close-up shots of her hands while cutting the ingredients. Many noted that the star had a manicure on her fingers in the full-frame shots, but in some of the close-up shots, her nails appear bare and unpainted. These differences sparked debate about whether the actress faked the content or had someone else do the cooking on her behalf.
While some netizens lamented the possible use of a “hand double” for a simple cooking video, others defended the singer. Some fans noted that Gillian may have done several takes for the one video, resulting in the discrepancies. A few also argued that the differences mentioned may be issues with the lighting and angles. However, some fans disregarded the authenticity of the filming, simply praising the star for her looks.

Since the video was for a diet-friendly recipe, it also sparked conversation about Gillian’s successful weight loss. In recent years, the singer battled with fluctuating weight due to a hormonal imbalance. After shedding a noticeable amount of weight in just a few months, many netizens praised her slimmer figure. However, the star has revealed that she suffers from body dysmorphia, likely due to the constant pressure of being a celebrity.
Gillian has yet to address the accusations, and it doesn’t appear that she would – but what are your thoughts on this? Would you be concerned about the star faking her cooking video? Check out the video below:
