It’s an unfortunate truth that many celebrities are victims of assault and harassment. Recently, former Hong Kong actor Wong He (王喜) shared his experience of getting drugged and sexually assaulted in Taiwan, which he believed contributed to his health decline.
Earlier this week, the actor took to YouTube to reveal details of the two alleged assaults that happened in Taiwan last year. In the video, Wong He recounted the incidents, speculating that they contributed to his declining health at the start of this year. The 57-year-old previously revealed that he was diagnosed with acute renal failure, which requires him to undergo lifelong dialysis treatment.
According to the former TVB star, the incident occurred in his friend’s home in Hsinchu, Taiwan, on 15th July 2024. He recalled regaining consciousness on the room floor with no memory of how he had fallen off the bed. Wong He said he vaguely remembered feeling an external force holding him down during the assault, suffocating him. As he got up, he felt pain in numerous parts of his body and found many scars and bruises.
Wong He said his friend seemed indifferent to the situation, instead asking him if he wanted to return to Taipei. His friend allegedly insisted on taking the 8am train and drove him to a place far from the station. As the public figure got on the train, he claimed to have noticed people behaving strangely around him, as if watching him. Wong He mentioned taking photos of his injuries, but didn’t take the case to the police out of distrust towards the authorities.
The actor then detailed the second incident, which happened on 10th December 2024. Wong He claimed to have lost consciousness after consuming red bean soup at another friend’s home. He said he woke up in bed the next day to find himself unclothed and covered in blood and bruises. He said he was lying in his excrement, which he claimed was mixed with an unknown white substance.
Later that day, Wong He realised he was incontinent and sought medical treatment. However, his friends acted as if nothing had happened. Adding to his frustration, the actor claimed the hospital he visited in Banqiao, Taiwan, dismissed his injuries. Days after the incident, the media personality said his symptoms worsened, and he was diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis, which led to acute kidney failure.
The actor’s video detailing the assaults sparked widespread concern and support from netizens. While we understand Wong He’s indifference towards the authorities, we hope he can seek help. What are your thoughts on this?
