As a driver, what would you do if you see pedestrians crossing the road? Obviously, you’d stop the car and wait for them to safely reach the other side, right? The same thing applies if you see animals like cats or dogs crossing the road. We don’t want to cause any unnecessary roadkill.

But the thing about animals, sometimes they are not completely aware of the danger at hand. They’d either run away as fast as they can or they could just chill on the road (and possibly meet their death). This airplane, presumably in Indonesia, cannot take off until this random lizard crosses the runway.

TikTok user @sendy_id or Captain Sendy is an Indonesian pilot who posts videos of his flights and travels on his account. His most recent video is currently going viral with 1.8 million views so far. The viral video shows the pilot pointing out a monitor lizard crawling in the middle of the runway, which caused the flight to be slightly delayed.

According to the video, the plane cannot fly until the lizard safely gets off the runway. Due to the size of the reptile, the flight crew were afraid it could get stuck in the jet turbines if they were to fly pass it. “We’ll just wait until it safely crosses the runway 😅,” the TikTok user captioned in the video.

The 12-second video got netizens laughing with many commenting their assumption of what the lizard might have said as it was passing by. Among the comments were:

“🦎: Please wait I want to get on board!”

“🦎: Excuse me, coming through 😛😛 “

“🦎: Please excuse me, I just missed my flight”

Props to Captain Sendy for quickly noticing the lizard before taking off. Who knows what might have happened if it did get caught in the turbines and engines. What would you have done if you were in the pilot’s shoes?
