Commuters in the Petaling Jaya area were shocked earlier this morning when they encountered a massive fire while travelling to work. The fire broke out at a construction site outside the well-known shopping mall.
According to China Press, the fire happened around 10am this morning (16th December 2024, Monday) at a construction site outside the Tropicana Gardens Mall. However, the fire appeared to have been at a distance, leaving the mall unaffected. The news outlet has contacted the local fire department, receiving confirmation that a fire had broken out outside the shopping mall.

Unfortunately, the fire is still under investigation, so information on the incident is scarce. However, several videos and pictures have circulated online, showing the severity of the fire. One video uploaded on Facebook by a local man shows thick smoke billowing from the area. As the man approached the scene, the fire appeared rather fierce but surprisingly contained in the area, thanks to the fences made of zinc roof sheets.
The authorities are still conducting search and rescue work at the scene, so there are no reports of injuries or casualties yet. Firefighters have put out the fire and are now investigating the cause of the blaze. At the same time, Tropicana Gardens Mall has yet to release an official statement about the fire. However, as mentioned earlier, it’s assumed that the mall was unaffected by the incident.

We thank the fire department for their quick action to get the fire under control, and we hope there were no casualties from the incident.
Meanwhile, here’s a look at the fire:
