It’s a common sight to see celebrities interact with each other when they meet at events – and some interactions even grow into deeper relationships. Some interactions can even happen between the most unlikely of individuals – like singer Rihanna and K-pop idol Jun (준) from SEVENTEEN (세븐틴).
Videos of the two singers attending a recent Fenty Beauty event in Shanghai made its way online, garnering tons of attention from CARATs (SEVENTEEN’s fandom) and K-pop fans alike. In one of the videos, Rihanna and Jun, whose real name is Wen Junhui (文俊辉), were seated at the same table in the event hall along with several other celebrities. According to the video, the “Work” singer had initiated a conversation with the Chinese idol. She also spoke to the other guests on the table, including Japanese-American singer Caelan Moriarty (モリアティー慶怜).
Along with the clip of the two having a friendly chat, another video emerges, showing Rihanna and Jun standing in a group circle with other attendees. While it wasn’t a direct interaction like the other clip, Jun was part of the group that Rihanna was speaking to. Both videos have received thousands of views on social media and tons of comments from fans who were surprised to see the two musicians meet in person.
Many fans said the videos were unexpected but welcomed since it’s uncommon for Rihanna to interact with K-pop idols in public. Some also joked that the random interaction is like seeing their two worlds collide. Others hoped Rihanna and Jun had taken a photo at the event and would share it on social media soon. Some fans also hope the interaction will lead to Jun becoming a brand ambassador or model for Fenty Beauty.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time the boyband caught netizens off guard with their unexpected friendships. Earlier this year, fans gushed over the cute interactions of SEVENTEEN’s rapper Mingyu with BLACKPINK members Jisoo and Lisa. Another unexpected SEVENTEEN-BLACKPINK friendship is Woozi and Jennie.
It does seem that the idol group has a few social butterflies – so maybe we’ll see more random interactions in the future.
