It’s always exciting to see a K-pop artist covering a Malay-language song. BIGBANG’s Taeyang surprised fans with his rendition of Dato’ Sheila Majid’s “Antara Anyer dan Jakarta” during his concert in Kuala Lumpur last year, earning praise for paying tribute to one of Malaysia’s icons and introducing his younger fans to the classic hit.
While this next one may be an Indonesian song, the excitement remains the same, as both countries more or less share the same language. Yesterday (Thursday, 23rd October), Korean-American soloist eaJ Park (박제형) surprised fans by posting a video on his social media pages in which he covered “Satu Bulan” by Indonesian singer Bernadya.

Fans may already know this, but in case you didn’t, earlier in 2024, eaJ expressed his admiration for Bernadya and her song “Satu Bulan”, describing the Indonesian artist as “one of the most honest voices” he’d heard in a long time. The former DAY6 member also played her song during one of his livestreams, and the two actually even met backstage at a music festival.
It appears that he’s been working on his Indonesian as he finally made the decision to cover the song. Earlier this week, he teased fans that he’s been practising a song and apologised in advance for any mispronunciation. The soloist posted a short video on both his Instagram and TikTok pages of himself singing “Satu Bulan” by Bernadya. “I’M SORRY FOR THE PRONUNCIATION 😭” he wrote in his captions. The Korean star can be seen sitting on the floor, singing the song into the microphone in his hand, before being distracted by his cat walking in front of the camera.

Fans praised eaJ’s rendition, commenting that his pronunciation was perfect. Others expressed their hope that the two artists might release a duet version of the song one day. Even Bernadya herself praised the singer, writing, “Keren 😀”, which means “Awesome” in Indonesian. Will eaJ release a full version of his cover? Or better yet, will he and Bernadya perform a duet? Let’s hope so.
