Divorce doesn’t always have to be messy. Many former couples manage to stay on good terms, or even remain friends, after ending their marriage, particularly when children are involved. While these two didn’t have children together, there seems to be no bad blood between the exes.
In August last year, singer and actress Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from actor Ben Affleck after two years of marriage. More than a year later, the former couple reunited on the red carpet for the premiere of Lopez’s new film. Here’s what went down:
According to reports, the couple parted ways due to irreconcilable differences, with their divorce finalised in February this year. Since then, they’ve rarely spoken about each other, until recently, when the singer began doing press interviews to promote her latest musical film, “Kiss of the Spiderwoman”. Many were surprised when the two exes reunited on the red carpet at the film’s New York premiere.
Both Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were all smiles as they posed together for a group photo before sharing a more private chat on the sidelines. For those unaware, the “Batman” alum is actually the executive producer of the film, so it’s no surprise that he was in attendance at the premiere. People magazine reported that inside the theatre, the actor praised the singer for her performance, saying, “This film is exquisite. Jennifer, you’re incredible.”
Earlier in the day, Jennifer also credited Ben during an appearance on “The Today Show”, saying that the film wouldn’t have been made without him. In another interview with “CBS Sunday Morning”, the star described how supportive her then-husband had been throughout the filming process, despite the personal challenges they were facing at home.
