We can only imagine what e-hailing drivers go through on a daily basis. They meet all kinds of people and sometimes find themselves in some sticky situations. We’ve already heard plenty of stories from Grab drivers about the things they’ve witnessed and experienced while on duty.
Of course, there are two sides to every story. Passengers of these e-hailing services have also shared some of their strange and very unfortunate experiences with their drivers. Unfortunately for this passenger, his driver was not only rude to him, but was verbally abusive as well. Here’s what happened:

Recently, TikTok user @cseetoh15 or Christopher Seetoh posted a video of his experience of riding with his Gojek driver in Singapore. In the footage, the driver is heard screaming at the passenger for touching his aircon and readjusting the car seat without his permission. The customer, sitting in the front passenger seat, was shocked when the driver got verbally aggressive towards him. The two got into a heated argument throughout the whole journey.
The driver can also be heard calling the passenger “siao” (Hokkien for “crazy”) after he was asked to confirm if the ride has already started. Despite the conflict, the passenger still insisted the Gojek driver send him to his destination – which the driver responded to by telling the passenger to exit the vehicle. He even threatened to call the police! When the TikTok user confronted the man for his rude behaviour, the elderly driver responded with, “You are sitting in people’s car, you know. You think what? Taxi, ah?”.
The frustrated driver also called Christopher ‘thick skinned’ multiple times throughout the video, while repeatedly telling him to get out. Not wanting to tolerate the mistreatment, the Singaporean passenger told the driver to drop him off at the police station. As seen in the video, the Gojek driver furiously waves his hand while telling his passenger to exit the vehicle when they reach an outdoor car park.
As seen in the screenshots above, netizens are apparently torn over which party was in the right. Some suggested that the passenger was wrong for not asking permission, while others criticised the driver for his outburst. There are those who stayed neutral saying that both parties were wrong.
After the incident went viral, Gojek apologised to the passenger in a statement, and said they will take necessary actions against the driver. As compensation, the e-hailing platform offered the displeased customer a 10% discount voucher for his next ride.
