As many already know, aside from politics, Syed Saddiq has taken part in numerous sporting events over the years. The young politician has long been an advocate for a healthy lifestyle among Malaysians, particularly during his time as Minister of Youth and Sports. One of the events he has taken part in is the annual Ironman Challenge.
This year, the Muar Member of Parliament will once again compete in the highly anticipated race, and this time, he is determined to raise RM1 million in donations for the people of Muar if he successfully completes it. However, did he actually shave his head in preparation for this upcoming challenge?

On Wednesday (29 October), Syed Saddiq posted a video on social media confirming his participation in this year’s Ironman 70.3 event in Langkawi. According to his caption, fashion brand Prima Valet has set a challenge for the 32-year-old to complete the race within 13 hours, which consists of a 3.8km swim, a 180km cycling leg, and a 42.2km run.
“I accept the challenge! Bring it on!” he said. The video then cuts to a montage of his “intense training sessions”, along with a short clip of him shaving his head, joking that it might save him three seconds. The head-shaving scene led many to believe that the politician had gone bald in preparation for the upcoming event. However, that may not actually be the case.

Upon closer inspection, it appears that the clip was from 2020, when Syed Saddiq shaved his head as part of his 1 Keluarga 1 Laptop campaign. Nevertheless, it doesn’t rule out the possibility that he might do it again, given his track record of dedication and commitment to improving the lives of the people. So will he do it again, or was the montage simply a joke?
Judging from his latest video posted yesterday (Thursday, 30th October), it doesn’t appear so, but we can speculate that he could do it afterwards or perhaps on the day of the event itself. Guess we’ll find out soon.
