Malaysians take great pride in their food. As a highly multicultural country, we enjoy a wide variety of mouthwatering traditional dishes that never fail to satisfy, even when eaten daily. One of the most famous local delicacies is, of course, nasi lemak. We’ve had several international stars try and fall in love with this iconic dish, with one even expressing a desire to eat more of it throughout their stay.
The latest celebrity to join this list is American comedian and actor Jimmy O. Yang. The entertainer was recently in town for his “BIG & TALL” live performance, held yesterday (Sunday, 23 November). Before taking the stage, he had some free time to explore and sample our beloved dish. Here’s what he had to say:

Over the weekend, on Saturday (22nd November), Jimmy O. Yang shared a video on his social media pages showing his visit to Village Park restaurant in Kuala Lumpur to try the famous nasi lemak. “Delicious! This is very, very good. [Love] the sambal. The chicken is so tender,” he said of his meal. He also tried it with beef rendang, another popular accompaniment, which the “Crazy Rich Asians” star described as equally awesome. In the comments section, the comedian thanked his Malaysian fans for the recommendation.
Many of his fans were delighted to hear that he enjoyed nasi lemak and even suggested other local dishes, such as bak kut teh, for him to try before continuing his tour. Others simply offered a warm welcome, excited to attend his show the following day. You’ll be pleased to know that Jimmy took those recommendations on board, posting on his Instagram Story yesterday that he had gone to try bak kut teh at an undisclosed location. He also shared a follow-up story, thanking the Malaysian audience for a fantastic show.

We hope that Jimmy enjoyed the rest of his stay in KL and that he’ll come back to perform for fans here for his next tour! Watch the video of him trying nasi lemak below:
