“First comes love, then comes marriage,” as the saying goes. Getting married is a big deal already but the wedding ceremony is another level of big deals. Couples will carefully plan and wait for the day they will finally tie the knot. Many would (obsessively) plan to make sure their wedding is perfect.
While most would spend a decent amount for a wedding ceremony, there are those who would go the extra mile to have the most extravagant wedding of the century. We’ve seen celeb couples who have done this countless times but it’s not everyday you’d get to hear a local wedding that cost about RM1 million!

TikTok user @Penglipur69, who is also the admin for the Sandakankini Sabah Facebook page, posted a video on their account recently showing a Cinderella-themed wedding ceremony where this couple from Sabah apparently spent about RM600k just for the “pelamin” itself. The video has gained 818.8k views, 32.8k likes and 1.9k comments.
According to the series of videos posted, the “pelamin” is custom made for the wedding inspired by the Cinderella fairytale. But that wasn’t the only expensive thing about the wedding. The “duit hantaran” or dowry was apparently RM400K! And if that doesn’t make your wallet burn, the catering cost about RM100K. Put it all together, that’s more than RM1 million!
At this point, do we even want to know how much the bride’s wedding dress cost? Luckily (or unluckily?) the TikTok user did not mention the cost for the wedding dress but from the looks of it, we can pretty much assume that also cost a fortune.

On TikTok, while there are those who are happy for the couple and congratulated them, there are those who felt like the ceremony was a waste of money. Reactions on Facebook however have been mostly positive with many commenting on how beautiful the bride and wedding looks.
