Anything can happen at a concert. Whether it’s someone suddenly going into labour or the artist themselves falling into a hole on stage, there’s no way to predict these incidents. Previously, American singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo accidentally stepped into a stage door on the ground during her “GUTS” World Tour in Melbourne, Australia.
Luckily, the superstar showed no signs of injury and assured her fans that she was fine. One might think the stage crew would learn from that incident; however, something similar occurred again, this time involving Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, and in the same state. Watch:
Over the weekend, UK rock band Coldplay performed at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne when lead singer Chris Martin had an accident that could have injured him badly. The vocalist was seen interacting with fans while slowly walking backwards, unaware of the danger behind him. Fans gasped when the 47-year-old fell into the stage door, but luckily, two crew members were inside the hole to break his fall. “That was not planned. Thank you for catching me,” he said into the microphone while getting back up onstage.
The singer carried on as usual, but the moment has gone viral on social media, with many expressing concern over the fact that a similar incident occurred again with another artist. Taking to social media, fans wondered how something like this could happen again, just weeks after Olivia Rodrigo’s concert, while others called out the venue management for the stage malfunction. Some even suspected sabotage, but a few pointed out that the stage door on the floor was meant to be open for the guest artist to enter, and that it was genuinely a careless mistake on Chris’s part.
At the time of writing, the concert organisers have yet to respond to fans’ concerns over the recent incident. Whatever the case, we’re glad that nobody actually got injured but let’s hope there won’t be a third artist falling offstage at any venues in Melbourne anytime soon.
