Malaysians take pride in our food and numerous foreign content creators have compared the food in Malaysia to other countries. A couple of years ago, an American couple compared the McDonald’s in our country with the fast food in the United States, claiming they were just as delicious.

So now that we know our McDonald’s is on par with those in the States, what about our Five Guys? A UK family decided to try the restaurant’s food in the UK and compare it to what they had during their recent visit in Malaysia. Here’s what they thought about their meal:

TheUnconventionalFam is a content-creating family from the United Kingdom who have been travelling around the world, with one of their most recent stops in Malaysia. While back in their home country, the family decided to visit a local Five Guys restaurant after trying the food at Pavilion KL. “I’ve never tried a Five Guys here before, but while we were in Malaysia, I absolutely loved it, so I’m going to compare the two today,” said the mother in their latest TikTok post.

Once they entered the restaurant, they immediately noticed that the menu in the UK offered many more options compared to Malaysia, mainly because the latter does not serve pork. After trying their meal, the family concluded that the fries and burgers at Five Guys in Malaysia were far better than those in the UK. “It’s got nothing on Malaysia. [The fries] are undercooked, flavourless, and overall just awful. The BBQ sauce isn’t that good either,” said the father.

The mother then expressed her disappointment in their meal, stating that although Malaysia does not serve pork, she believes the Five Guys burgers in the country are better. The family’s final verdict on their £43.85 (RM243.70) meal? “Disappointed,” they said at the end of the video.

The TikTok post quickly went viral and attracted the attention of Malaysians, who thanked TheUnconventionalFam for their compliments on the country’s Five Guys. Many recommended a few burger joints for the content creators to try on their next visit, including WoodFire and the iconic Ramly Burger. Have you tried Five Guys anywhere? Do you agree with the influencer family’s opinions?

There’s more to Malaysian food than Five Guys but I needed to compare in the UK before we leave again 🙌🏼😅 #fiveguys #foodietiktok #malaysian #travelfamily #familyvlog
