K-Pop superstar Lisa (리사/ ลิซ่า) is adding another first to her career! The multi-hyphenate is launching her first documentary film later this year, and it’s set to premiere globally, including in Malaysia!
On 2nd September 2026 (Wednesday), Sony Music Vision announced Lisa’s first feature documentary film, “Always Lalisa”. The film follows the singer’s first year after stepping away from BLACKPINK (블랙핑크) to focus on her solo career. According to the official statement, the documentary chronicles “the fear and pressure of launching a solo career, pursuing acting, and building a brand, while yearning to maintain a personal life beyond the spotlight.”
“Always Lalisa” is directed by Sue Kim, who also directed the 2020 Netflix documentary, “The Speed Cubers”. The documentary will have its world premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival later this month, before opening in theatres worldwide in October. Tickets for the theatrical release will go on sale on 9th September 2026 (Wednesday). The film will also be available on YouTube Premium later this year.
More excitingly, the documentary will also open in IMAX. For Malaysian BLINKs and LILIES (Lisa fans), GSC and TGV Cinemas have confirmed that “Always Lalisa” will be released in local theatres. Both cinemas also confirmed that the film will be available in IMAX at selected locations. Fans can visit GSC and TGV Cinemas’ official websites for more information on the screening and ticketing.
The new documentary comes after an already successful 2025 and 2026 for Lisa. The Thai star recently performed at the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, becoming the first K-Pop and Thai artist to do so. Outside of music, the 29-year-old also launched her acting career through HBO’s “The White Lotus”. She also expanded her fashion portfolio, becoming the first K-Pop artist to serve on the 2026 Met Gala host committee.
Lisa is also gearing up for more releases later this year. The singer recently announced her new EP, “PRESS PLAY”, dropping on 23rd October 2026 (Friday). The first single, “SaWaDiKa”, will be released later today (Thursday, 3rd September 2026). Lisa is also preparing for her Las Vegas residency, “VIVA LA LISA”, which will run at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in November. Notably, she’s the first K-Pop artist to hold a Las Vegas residency.
