A viral video allegedly showing BLACKPINK’s (블랙핑크) Jennie (제니) and EXO’s (엑소) Kai (카이) attending a concert together has recently sparked intense reactions online, reigniting long-dormant rumours about the former couple. However, fans were quick to point out that the so-called “evidence” was not only misleading but also created using AI edits.
The pair went public with their relationship on 1st January 2019, making headlines as one of the top celebrity couples in K-pop at the time. However, their relationship was short-lived. On 25th January 2019, SM Entertainment confirmed the two had parted ways. Since then, rumours about their relationship have surfaced occasionally, with fans and netizens speculating about interactions or alleged sightings.

This time, the speculation was fueled by a video claiming the pair had been spotted together at a Dua Lipa concert. The clip quickly spread across social media platforms, accompanied by photos supposedly showing the idols side by side.
Yet, closer inspection revealed glaring flaws. Fans pointed out that the supposed “Kai” in the photo was actually an edited version of a past picture of him wearing his well-known Texas outfit, altered to fit the narrative of him being in Los Angeles.

One Twitter user debunked the photo by stating, “This is just some staff pic, not even Kai was with them. They edited him with his Texas outfit, claiming it was in LA. It’s pretty clear the pic is not real. Look at his neck, shoulders, and necklaces.” Another fan used Google Lens to track down the original staff images used in the alleged “evidence,” further confirming the photo was not authentic.
The incident highlights growing concerns about the misuse of AI in creating deceptive content. Fans warned that spreading such fabricated media not only misleads the public but also invades the privacy of the artists involved.
