Hong Kong social media personality Sit Ying Yi (薛影仪), a.k.a Ah Yi (阿仪), once spoke about being pursued by men after her popularity soared. Despite that, she has never publicly disclosed her relationship status – but could this soon change?
Recently, netizens were buzzing about Ah Yi possibly being linked with another social media personality, Babyface Wong (Babyface黄先生). The man recently gained popularity online after publicly pursuing television host Maggie Leung (梁敏巧) on a television programme. The combination reportedly started when Babyface Wong’s “behind-the-scenes consultant”, Jolam Chok (林作), attempted to boost his client’s popularity by pairing the two public figures.
Jolam first shared an AI-generated video depicting Babyface Wong and Ah Yi kissing. While it wasn’t real, netizens still expressed interest in seeing the two together, prompting Jolam to set the two media personalities together to film a video. The video was themed around Babyface Wong giving hairstyle suggestions to Ah Yi, only to have all his ideas shut down by the confident Ah Yi.
Unfortunately, Ah Yi and Babyface Wong didn’t appear to be the perfect romantic pair many netizens had initially hoped for. However, their constant bickering in the video left many entertained. Some even noted that the two looked alike and wished for more interactions. On the other hand, some joked that Ah Yi might be too “powerful” for Babyface Wong to handle, quipping that the latter won’t be able to “pursue” the former beauty pageant contestant.
It doesn’t seem that Ah Yi and Babyface Wong will continue with the “romantic partner” bit. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time the media personality got roped into a dating rumour. A few months back, Ah Yi fooled fans into thinking she was getting married by posting a photo of her wearing a wedding dress. However, the get-up was part of a video she was in and wasn’t a declaration of the public figure tying the knot.
