When it comes to personal goals, anyone can dream big, whether they are logical or not. Many successful billionaires, like Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, and Ralph Lauren, began their journey with nothing more than an imaginary vision. However, the question remains: is it realistic for someone to achieve their dreams if they seem too unrealistic, especially when the person appears incapable?
Yousaf Iqbal, known for interviewing people with unique perspectives on life, recently spoke with social media influencer Andika Putera for his podcast series, YouCast. During the interview, Yousaf shared his disbelief after Andika revealed his dream of buying The Exchange 106, formerly known as the TRX Signature Tower.
Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, the The Exchange 106 tower is the second-tallest building in Malaysia and the third-tallest in Southeast Asia. The 95-storey skyscraper is part of the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) financial district and is owned by Mulia Property Development Sdn Bhd. According to reports, TRX has a gross development value of more than RM40 billion.
In the interview, Andika argued that it is not impossible to dream big, even if the dream seems crazy. He spoke about his success in teaching 40- and 50-year-old business founders, despite his young age, and how many people initially doubted his ability. He emphasised that age is just a number, especially when it comes to achieving big goals.
However, reactions from netizens were mostly negative, with many mocking Andika for his goal. One comment read, “The TRX building has Prudential. Are you able to buy Prudential?”, while another said, “You split the rent and electricity bill with your wife, yet you want to buy the TRX building?” Many others echoed the sentiment that his dream is delusional, despite his enthusiasm and confidence.
Andika concluded the video by encouraging people to not be afraid of dreaming big. He suggested that if successful people can thrive on platforms like Facebook, they can also be great on Instagram, and if they can be great on Instagram, they can be great on TikTok. While his dream of buying one of the tallest buildings in Malaysia after the Petronas Towers is ambitious, it leaves us wondering: Is it really attainable for an mere entrepreneur like him?
