Although Ameera Khan is a public figure who frequently shares her work and travels on social media, little is known about her personal life. One confirmed detail, however, is that she is currently in a relationship with Indonesian actor Jefri Nichol, and the pair have been spending a great deal of time together recently.
During a recent Instagram livestream, the model shared a revelation about her background, stating that she is not actually Malay, or at least not fully Malay, as many had believed. Here’s what she said:
Recently, Ameera Khan addressed allegations during an Instagram Live session, suggesting that she was ashamed to identify as Malay. “It’s not that I’m ashamed. I’m really not Malay, so why should I claim that I am? And I don’t think I’m mixed either, because my mum is Arab and my dad is Pakistani. I live and grew up here, so obviously I can speak the language. If I couldn’t, you might as well just slap me,” she said, laughing before adding that she’s proficient in the Kelantanese dialect.
When asked how her family came to settle in Kelantan, Malaysia, Ameera said she would need to ask her mother again to recall the details of their family history. She also shared that she often identified as Malay simply because it was the easier answer. “If I say otherwise, people will accuse me of being ashamed of my Malay identity, which isn’t really the case, so it’s easier to just say that I was Malay and move on,” she added. It remains unclear whether the model or her family have any Malay ancestry.
In addition to speaking about her ethnicity, Ameera Khan also discussed her relationship with her boyfriend Jefri Nichol, describing him as funny and full of character. “His humour is… something. He’s very fun — I love him a lot,” she shyly confessed, adding that the two are constantly on the phone with each other during their free time.
