Malaysia’s No.1 singer Dato Sri Siti Nurhaliza has always been a very busy woman. When she’s not performing on stage at events or concerts, she’s busy running her cosmetic business. The singer frequently does live streams on TikTok to promote her products and even gives fans a tutorial on how to use some of the items.
However, it seems not all of her fans support her entrepreneurship, or at the very least, they don’t see why an icon such as herself would even bother running a business. During a recent broadcast, Siti took the time to clarify why she was doing all this work as if she was unemployed.
A fan page known as @/sitinurhalizafantastic on TikTok reposted a moment of the legend’s most recent livestream where she promoted a private makeup class to her viewers; those who purchased her products would stand a chance to participate in the class taught by the singer herself. While she was promoting the workshop, a netizen asked, “Isn’t that usually a makeup artist’s job? Why is [Siti] doing all this? Is she jobless?”
The mother-of-two then playfully clapped back at the user by asking her staff behind the camera if she really had nothing better to do. “Why am I doing all this? Am I jobless?” she jested. Assuming that the netizen meant no harm in their remark, the artist clarified that she’s simply doing what she loves. “Apart from music, makeup is also a passion of mine – skincare, cosmetics, all of it – I can see you guys laughing in the comments from my joke earlier. I don’t mean to call anyone out but I won’t do things that I don’t enjoy,” she explained.
The singer emphasised that no one has ever forced her into doing anything. “I just need to make that clear. I’m not here to retaliate but I do things because I want to. I truly enjoy doing what I do,” she elaborated. Fans were mostly amused by her reaction to the netizen’s remark. Others adored how she responded to the comment so elegantly and eloquently.
