In recent years, K-pop survival shows aimed at debuting new groups have surged in popularity. These shows give fans a glimpse into the trainees’ raw talents and personalities throughout the intense training process, allowing them to form a deeper connection with their soon-to-be idols. However, it’s also a well-known fact that the judging and voting systems in these programs are often suspected of being rigged, leading to controversies and disappointment among fans.
A clip from a YouTube video posted by LOUDI’s official channel has recently gone viral, featuring soloist AleXa (알렉사) spilling some shocking details about her experience on Mnet’s “Produce 48.” In the video, she revealed that her votes were manipulated during the show, ultimately leading to her elimination. Here’s what the idol had to say:

AleXa began spilling the tea by recounting an emotional moment during a group battle in one of the “Produce 48” episodes where she was told she only received 4 votes. “I went to the bathroom crying because I thought, ‘Wow, I suck,’” she recalled. However, when one of the younger trainees bumped into her in the bathroom and asked why she was upset, things took an unexpected turn.
After explaining her despair, the younger contestant—whom AleXa said she remains in contact with to this day—revealed that she had seen the producer’s clipboard, which showed that AleXa had actually received 30 votes instead of 4. To the “Tattoo” singer’s surprise, with that many votes, she could have advanced to the next round.
Although the K-pop star couldn’t recall the exact point totals for the other girls at the time, this disclosure opened her eyes to the reality and nature of the show. “I went into the show already knowing things, but that just solidified it,” she said. While the 27-year-old singer hinted that she has her own theories about why the producers may have purposely eliminated her, she chose not to delve into further details.

After the revelations came to light, it naturally sparked outrage among K-pop fans. Many comments expressed anger over how the entire show was rigged and planned out from the very beginning, causing disappointment and frustration among viewers. Others wondered what the final lineup of IZ*ONE (아이즈원) might have looked like if the voting had been fair, which further raised doubts about the show’s trustworthiness.
