After filing for divorce earlier this year, Malaysian actress Syida Melvin has officially split from her businessman husband, Syafiq Azim. The couple finalised their separation earlier today (Wednesday, 12th August 2026), a day after the actress’s birthday.
Syida and Syafiq appeared at the Shah Alam Syariah Lower Court, with the formal pronouncement of divorce taking place at 9.25am. Syafiq reportedly declared talaq satu. Syida’s legal representative, Nurul Jamaliah, said the divorce proceedings went smoothly, with both parties giving their utmost cooperation. With her divorce, Syida will begin her iddah period starting today.

Syida, whose real name is Nur Syifa Assyidda Amirol Melvin, first sparked news about her divorce following reports in April 2026 that she had initiated divorce proceedings against her husband. Shockingly, the filing dated back to December 2025. However, the process was delayed after the pair briefly explored the possibility of reconciliation to resolve their differences. After failing to reconcile, Syida and Syafiq proceeded with the divorce.
According to the pair’s legal representatives, the reason for the divorce is irreconcilable differences. However, in recent months, Syida has hinted that financial issues have plagued her marriage. The 30-year-old claimed that her husband has racked up thousands of ringgit worth of debt involving their joint businesses. She also claimed that Syafiq failed to pay for their house, leading to issues with the bank.

For those wondering, Syida and Syafiq tied the knot on 19th January 2019. The pair share three children: Safa Safeera, Sara Sajedda and Serhan Isa. Regarding the custody of their children, Syida’s legal team said that it’s still being discussed and will be filed once they’ve obtained the necessary documents from the court. However, Syida has been caring for her children since filing for divorce earlier this year.
