Veteran Chinese actress Liu Xiao Qing (刘晓庆) has made a name for herself with decades-long career paired with multiple renowned works. However, the 73-year-old also has a notorious love life, having been married and divorced four times.
Recently, her name was picked up by news outlets after a renowned paparazzi claimed the actress had an extramarital affair during her fourth marriage. The news dropped on 29th October (Tuesday), just a day before her birthday. The insider alleged that the affair started in 2015, two years after Liu Xiao Qing wedded Chinese-American businessman William Chan. The star had only recently announced her divorce in August of this year after 11 years of marriage.
According to reports, Liu Xiao Qing’s then-boyfriend is a photographer who is 20 years younger. The two met at a party in 2015 and developed a romantic relationship soon after. The paparazzi also shared chat screenshots and voice recordings, allegedly of the actress and her younger partner. Shockingly, some of the messages the public figure sent were sexually explicit, and she even referred to her lover as “husband”.
The insider revealed that the man did ask about the star’s then-husband William, to which she said they don’t have any relationship. Liu Xiao Qing and the photographer maintained the affair until 2019, when the man discovered the actress had other boyfriends besides him. The star initially denied it but gradually distanced herself from the man, eventually ghosting him in 2021. The sudden break-up apparently caused the man to suffer emotionally, and he even went into depression.
As for writing, the actress has yet to address the rumours, but many netizens have reacted to the news. Interestingly, many weren’t too surprised about the affair, given Liu Xiao Qing’s colourful dating history. Instead, some showed envy towards her “charms”, saying she could still attract men at her older age. Some netizens also defended the public figure, arguing that other male stars have cheated, so her extramarital affairs shouldn’t be a big deal.
