(Video) 4 Loud Explosions Heard On Train At Abdullah Hukum LRT Station

Train riders at Abdullah Hukum LRT station were in for a shock yesterday (12th March 2025, Wednesday) after loud explosions went off whilst passengers were inside the coach. The terrifying incident reportedly happened at around 10.30pm.

Videos and photos taken during the incident have gone viral on social media. In one video, riders inside the coach began panicking following four loud explosions. Those on the train platform also quickly backed away from the train. As soon as the train doors open, passengers immediately exit. Another video from the outside also showed white smoke coming out of the train.

After the incident, RapidKL issued statements informing the public of schedule delays due to a technical disruption. RapidKL carried out repair works after operation hours, and, as of today (13th March 2025, Thursday), the Kelana Jaya LRT line has resumed operations as usual. However, RapidKL has yet to release a statement on the explosion or the cause. Meanwhile, netizens continue to debate what happened.

As it had rained in the area before the incident, some believed the heavy downpour had somehow affected the train’s mechanism. However, one XiaoHongShu user on the train said the train suddenly braked at the Abdullah Hukum after hitting a foreign object. The user said they heard the explosions moments later, suggesting that the foreign object had caused the disruption.

This incident is one of two that plagued RapidKL on the same day. At around 4pm, a wall panel at the Masjid Jamek LRT station collapsed due to heavy rain. Thankfully, no one was injured, and the missing wall didn’t affect the building structure. Clean-up and repair works were facilitated, and investigations are ongoing to assess the damage. RapidKL also apologised for all the inconvenience caused by the incident.
