Malaysians are at their wits’ end after suffering through multiple public transport disruptions lately. Currently, those using the LRT Ampang Line will have to face 7 more months of disruptions.

Remember the time when passengers were forced to walk for hours to their destinations after the LRT services broke down? We can only imagine the frustration they must’ve felt throughout the journey. Speaking of which, KLIA guests recently faced a similar issue after the aerotrains at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 broke down.

Yesterday (Thursday, 2nd March), the aerotrain at KLIA Terminal 1 apparently broke down which caused 114 passengers to be stranded on the train in the middle of the track for 1 hour. A second train was deployed to transport the stranded passengers safely but it, unfortunately, broke down as well.

Due to the disruption, the passengers had no choice but to walk all the way back to the main terminal on the train tracks in the rain as seen in the videos above. Staff members and police officers were immediately called to assist the passengers by guiding and providing them with umbrellas as they walk back to the terminal. It was said that 10 passengers missed their flights to their respective destinations due to the breakdowns.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has since apologised for the incident that occurred yesterday and temporarily suspended the aerotrain services until further notice. At the time of writing, the reason for the breakdown of the 2 trains has yet to be addressed. It is also currently unknown if or when passengers will be compensated for their missed flights.

Multiple photos and videos were posted on social media and understandably, netizens did not hold back in expressing their dissatisfaction. As seen in the screenshots above, many criticised MAHB for the maintenance issue as well as for not providing a more suitable and safer solution to transport the passengers back to the Terminal.

Others urged Transport Minister Anthony Loke to quickly look into the situation to avoid this from happening again in the future. For now, we hope that the passengers are doing better and that they will be compensated for the inconvenience.
