Every Barbie lover who grew up dreaming of owning something pink from the movies. Be it the Dreamhouse, the hot pink car, or even the chic wardrobe. We all wanted to live the Barbie dream.
Well, great news for fans of the hot pink icon! HMD, the company behind Nokia-branded phones, has teamed up with toymaker Mattel to launch the HMD Barbie phone in a nostalgic retro style. Naturally, everyone is flipping out over the return of the flip phone, now with a fabulous Barbie twist!

The flip phone, naturally, boasts a striking pink colour and features a mirror on the front flap, along with a bold Barbie logo in white on the other. It also has a lot of details, with hidden designs like flamingos, palm trees, and hearts on the keypad that light up in the dark. To complete the experience, the phone comes in a jewellery box that includes accessories like interchangeable back covers, a beaded lanyard, and gem stickers to take your Barbie game to the next level.
Priced at US$129 (RM560), the phone offers 512 MB of RAM, and 4GB of storage, and supports a single SIM. Embracing the retro style and vibe, the phone is intentionally designed without access to social media, focussing solely on calls and texts. It’s the perfect device for those looking to escape digital distractions and live life to the fullest—just like the blonde beauty herself.

Unsurprisingly, this release garnered a lot of attention and positive reactions online. People are applauding HMD for bringing back a slice of nostalgia and for encouraging young people to embrace the digital detox movement. Meanwhile, Barbie lovers are eagerly anticipating getting their hands on this stylish gadget.
The phone is set to be officially released in the US on 1st October 2024. While there is no official news about its release in Malaysia yet, it is already listed on HMD Malaysia’s website, so you might be able to look forward to it coming soon.
