Vapers, it might not be easy to get your hands on your weekly dose of vape juice or even vape in public any more.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said that laws to regulate the vape industry has been proposed, ranging from the manufacture of the products to the smoking of e-cigarettes. The laws will be implemented by the end of 2016.

The Health Ministry will not be drafting the laws alone, as they will be working hand in hand with other ministries and agencies, depending on the legal areas involved. Although he did not reveal the name of the parties involved, Subramaniam did state that his ministry would be responsible for enforcing the regulations.

This news was disclosed by Subramaniam at a Cabinet meeting that took place yesterday (Wednesday, 11th May 2016). He said:

The laws will involve all aspects of vape, including its distribution. Once the draft is completed, we will present it to the Cabinet, have it gazetted and enforced.

Vaping has been a controversial topic in Malaysia and the decision to regulate the vape industry came as the Education Ministry banned vaping in 20 public universities in Malaysia and after the Health Ministry raided vape outlets nationwide.

What do you think of the move to regulate the vape industry in Malaysia? Do you agree or disagree with the move? Leave your thoughts in the comments box below.
