Korean dramas (K-Dramas) have been such a big hit with fans in the Asian region that even Western countries are beginning to notice.

In fact, it wasn’t too long ago that popular 2013/2014 epic sci-fi romance drama “My Love From The Star” was in talks to get a US remake.

The original K-Drama starred Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun. The K-Drama went on to win multiple awards for its cast, production crew, as well as soundtrack.

Just today, it was announced that American film studio Universal Studios will be venturing into the highly lucrative K-Drama market. The studio has got its eyes set on working with the PD (Production Director) behind the 2014 rom-com K-Drama, “It’s Okay, That’s Love“.

According to Star News, Universal Studios has decided to invest OD Kim Kyu Tae’s latest project, “Lover of the Moon”. But nothing has been finalised yet as the studio is currently in discussion with the K-Drama’s production house, Wind Is Blowing, to fine-tune their terms.

However, it all goes well, the filming for “Lover of the Moon” may behind before the year ends. The total budget is reported to be around 15 billion won (approximately USD13 million).

PD Kim Kyu Tae’s project is based on the popular Chinese drama “Scarlet Heart”. Aside from “It’s Okay, That’s Love”, he has also previously directed “That Winter, the Wind Blows” (2013), “Iris: The Movie” (2010), and “The World That They Live In” (2008), among other well-received works.
