Every Merdeka serves as a reminder that Malaysia’s strength lies in its diversity. Different communities, traditions, and flavours come together to create a rich, shared culture. This year, CHAGEE Malaysia celebrates this spirit of togetherness under the theme of “Kraf”, bringing Malaysians together under one sky over tea, community art, and the traditional art of kite-flying.

There is something inherently Malaysian about gathering over a cup of tea. Whether it is an easy conversation between old friends or a shared table at a busy outlet, tea has long served as a bridge between backgrounds. Merdeka is ultimately about coming together, united under one flag and nation. Through the Kraf campaign, CHAGEE aims to create moments where communities can pause, connect, and celebrate the shared heritage, whether it is through a cup of tea, a shared piece of community art, or flying kites together in the park.

Balanced Flavours Inspired by Kraf

At the heart of the celebration is Seri Embun, a limited-time Vanilla Oolong Milk Tea inspired by Kraf, Malaysia’s tradition of handcraft where distinct handmade elements are woven together to form one beautiful whole. The name Seri Embun combines the concepts of radiance and fresh morning dew, reflecting the gentle balance of the drink.

Balancing two contrasting flavour profiles, Seri Embun layers deep Wuyi Da Hong Pao tea with creamy Madagascar vanilla. With each sip, floral notes unfold into caramel warmth, delivering a smooth and clean finish where neither flavour overpowers the other. This balance reflects more than taste. It is seen in Malaysia every day, where people from different backgrounds come together over shared meals, easy conversation, and cups of tea.

“With Seri Embun, we wanted two distinct flavours to sit together in one cup in refined balance. Wuyi Da Hong Pao brings depth, while Madagascar vanilla brings warmth. Achieving that harmony in every sip is what we’re most proud of,” said Eason Fang, General Manager of CHAGEE Malaysia.

CHAGEE teas are crafted with everyone in mind, and Muslim customers can enjoy the new drink across Halal-certified outlets nationwide. Customers can check the halal status of any outlet through JAKIM’s official directory at halal.gov.my.

Bringing Communities Together Through Kraf and the Wau

The CHAGEE Malaysia Merdeka celebration extends beyond the cup into outdoor community spaces, centring around the wau, the traditional Malaysian kite that symbolises hope, freedom, and the joy of gathering. Its colours, patterns and handcrafted form reflect the essence of Kraf, where individual elements come together to create something beautiful.

As part of the festivities, CHAGEE Sip & Soar took place daily from 24th to 27th August 2026, between 3pm and 7:30pm at Kepong Metropolitan Park, Kuala Lumpur. CHAGEE hosted an open community kite gathering where members of the public may visit a Seri Embun tasting booth, participate in hands-on kite workshops, attempt the interactive Kite Wind Challenge, and contribute to a large-scale community art piece coloured by visitors throughout the event.

Additionally, under the Layang-Layang Challenge held at selected participating outlets until 30th August 2026, customers who purchase two cups of Seri Embun and share a flying-themed song by singing or humming with the CHAGEE team will receive a DIY CHAGEE layang-layang kit. Customers can then decorate or colour the kites, and post their creations on social media to stand a chance to win exclusive Merdeka merchandise (20 winners will each receive a full Vanilla Mini Soap set, a Diversi-tea Tumbler, and a unique CHAGEE kite).

Exclusive Merdeka Keepsakes

The Kraf theme also extends into a limited-edition Malaysia-exclusive merchandise collection. Customers will receive a Vanilla Mini Soap, available in one of two collectible colours, free with the purchase of two Large Seri Embun drinks in a single receipt from 14th August, while stocks last. Furthermore, all Seri Embun orders will be served in specially designed commemorative paper cups and thermal bags, created as keepsakes for Merdeka Day.

CHAGEE app members will also receive exclusive Merdeka perks throughout the celebration period from now until 31st August 2026. More details will be posted on CHAGEE Malaysia’s social channels Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
