As fans, we love hearing about our favourite celeb’s love life because it makes us feel closer to them. Recently, TVB actress Elaine Yiu (姚子羚) appeared on a television programme to discuss her love life, including her past relationship with a Malaysian man.
The actress recently appeared on the talk show “Hong Kong Marital Affairs (香港婚后事)”, which talks about romance and relationships. In the episode, she shared her thoughts about marriage and her past dating experiences with hosts Yoyo Chen (陈自瑶), Winki Lai (赖慰玲), Chris Lai (黎诺懿) and Joey Law (罗天宇).
As many fans may know, Elaine is currently single but admitted that she’s interested in being in a relationship. However, the 44-year-old said she doesn’t want to force love because she wants to find someone truly compatible.
Elaine said, “It’s not about finding anyone to marry, but meeting someone right for you. For me, marriage is a lifelong thing.” Concerning this comment, host Winki asked whether the star had met someone she wanted to marry. While she said yes, Elaine added that looking back at the relationship now, the person might not be the best choice for her.
During the show, Elaine also talked about her experiences with long-distance relationships. She revealed that she once dated a Malaysian she met during her university days in Australia. After finishing their studies, the couple tried to maintain a long-distance relationship, with Elaine living in Hong Kong and her boyfriend living in Malaysia. Unfortunately, the pair eventually broke up, possibly due to a lack of communication. The actress even joked about the situation, saying, “I took communication, but I’m not good at communicating.”
Elaine was also asked by Chris about her dating preferences, particularly her partner’s age. He questioned whether she would be okay with dating a man who is half her current age. Initially, she joked that dating a 20-something would be nice. However, Elaine admitted the age gap is too much because they might not have similar goals at their respective ages. Although, the TVB star said she could be okay with someone around five years younger.
It was interesting to learn more about Elaine’s love life – and we hope she can find someone who would match well with her.
