#TreatYoSelf: 7 Egg-tastic Brunch Spots Around Klang Valley

by Estee Ang

Let’s face it, guys. Eggs are among the most important ingredient in cooking! Unless you’re vegan or allergic to it, of course.

Not only are eggs filled with high-quality proteins, it also contains vitamins (i.e. vitamins A, B12, B2 and B5), minerals, good fats, and various trace nutrients. Moreover, many studies show that eggs provide HDL (dubbed “the good cholesterol”). Thanks to its bright yellow yolk (which is a source of lecithin), eggs can turn any dull dish into an appetising, colourful masterpiece. We especially love to watch the yolk run down a dish.

If you’re the type of foodie who loves to have eggs for brunch, here are 7 egg-tastic brunch spots around Klang Valley:

1. VCR @ Pudu

Source: Time Out

Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, VCR takes the form of an unsuspecting black house. While the cafe is best known for their wide selection of freshly brewed coffee and cakes, their plate of Turkish-style eggs is to die for! The egg dish is made of chickpeas, rich tomato sauce, chipolata sausages, perfect soft-boiled eggs, spinach Greek yogurt, topped with toasted pistachios. It also comes with 2 slices of sourdough toasts. Hmm…we’re feeling hungry as we write this ?

  • Address: 2, Jalan Galloway, Bukit Bintang, 50150 Kuala Lumpur
  • Opening hours: 8:30am – 11pm
  • Tel: 03-21102330

2. Breakfast Thieves @ APW Bangsar

Source: Eat Drink KL

In recent months, curious foodies have been flocking to APW Bangsar to dine at Breakfast Thieves – a popular cafe brand from Melbourne. Co-founded by 3 Malaysians, Breakfast Thieves is a daytime-only eatery that serves an array of egg-cellent brunch favourites. We highly recommend our readers to try The Legend. Served with beef salami, okra, feta cheese, mushroom, and sweet corn, this spicy baked eggs dish packs a tonne of flavours. But if you prefer your eggs simple, go for the “Kampung Eggs” your way on buttered toast. Be it fried, scrambled, or poached, the guys at Breakfast Thieves won’t disappoint.

  • Address: Lot M, 29-5 Jalan Riong, Bangsar, 59100 Kuala Lumpur
  • Opening hours: 9am – 5pm (Closed on Mondays)
  • Tel: 03-27883548

3. The Red Beanbag @ Publika

With coffee sourced from the folks at Grand Central Premium Coffee Roasters in Perth, it’s no wonder why The Red Beanbag is so popular among local cafe-hoppers. But aside from their coffee, the eatery also has an extensive food menu. If you have a thing for pancakes and mushrooms, their Portobello & Pancakes is a must-try! The very Insta-worthy delicacy even comes with 2 glorious poached eggs.

  • Address: Block A4 1st Floor A4-1-08, Publika, Jalan Dutamas 1, Solaris Dutamas, 50480 Kuala Lumpur
  • Opening hours: Monday – Thursday, 10am – 6pm; Friday – Sunday, 9:30am – 10pm
  • Tel: 03-26335030
  • Website | Facebook

4. Yeast Bistronomy @ Bangsar

Source: Time Out

Established in December 2012, Yeast Bistronomy aims to bring the delicate flavours of France to Kuala Lumpur. Unlike most cafes, they have a section just for eggs in their breakfast/bunch menu. Looking for an eggs-tremely satisfying French brunch experience? Then opt for the Oeufs Mollets Florentine (soft boiled eggs over spinach, mushroom, glazed with Gruyère cheese sauce). You won’t regret it 😉

Note: The breakfast/brunch menu at Yeast is only available from 8am to 3pm. Furthermore, Yeast has another outlet in Mid Valley.

  • Address: 24, Jalan Telawi 2, Bangsar, 59100 Kuala Lumpur
  • Opening hours: 8am -10pm
  • Tel: 03-22820118
  • Website | Facebook

5. The Good Batch Cafe + Bar @ Damansara Uptown

Source: The Good Batch

Dive into the weekend as you sink your knife into the Parisian. Served at The Good Batch Cafe + Bar in Damansara Uptown, the Parisian is made of soft Brioche bread, Béchamel sauce mixed with cheese, layers of ham, and 2 gorgeous sunny side ups. This trendy yet cozy neighbourhood cafe serves all-day breakfast so you can have this scrumptious dish anytime of the day.

Psst, you can swap the sunny side ups for poached eggs. Don’t say we didn’t share.

  • Address: 53, Jalan SS21/1A, Damansara Utama,
    47400 Petaling Jaya
  • Opening hours: Monday – Friday, 11am – 11pm; Saturday and Sunday, 9am – 11pm

6. Yellow Brick Road @ Bukit Damansara

Source: Teh Tarik

While this Yellow Brick Road won’t take you to Emerald City to meet Dorothy and her friends, it will surely satisfy your empty stomach. Situated at the corner of Jalan Batai, the homely cafe is one of the most popular brunch spots in the city. When you’re there, do give their Eggs Norwegian V2.0 a try. Fresh, savoury, and rich in flavours, this pretty brunch delight is worth the hype.

Note: Yellow Brick Road is the sister cafe of The Red Beanbag.

  • Address: 8-7, Jalan Batai, Bukit Damansara, 50490 Kuala Lumpur
  • Opening hours: 9am – 10pm
  • Tel: 03-28560903
  • Facebook

7. Enorme @ PJ

Enorme

Pizzas for brunch (or breakfast) is always a good idea. Headed by Malaysian chef William Teh, who helped create the food menu at Subang’s Flat White cafe, Enorme is an Italian restaurant that specialises in wood-fire pizzas. While there are a variety of topping options, our personal go-to is none other that the Prosciutto di Pancetta. Generously topped with pancetta, mozzarella, diced tomatoes, the pizza has a perfectly cooked sunny side up in the middle.

Note: Pizzas at Enorme come in 3 sizes: Extra small, large, and enorme (which means enormous in Italian).

  • Address: P-G-20, Podium PJ Centrestage, No.1, Jalan 13/1, Seksyen 13, 46200 Petaling Jaya
  • Opening hours: 10am – 11pm
  • Tel: 03-76610651
