When one thinks of royalty, the first thing that comes to mind would be fortune. We already know that the Brunei Royal Family is one of the richest royals in the world since Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah has the largest private car collection in the world, with approximately 7,000 cars but we don’t know where the family ranks in a world ranking.
Luckily, UK Finance published a listicle of the 25 richest royals in the world a couple of days ago which includes those from the UK, Sweden, Greece and several Asian countries. For this list, we’re going to focus mainly on the Royals from West and Southeast Asia. So who is the richest royal of them all? Scroll down to find out:
5. Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud of Saudi Arabia: USD$14.4 billion (RM63.5 billion)

Taking the no. 5 spot is the Saudi Arabian prince, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud with a net worth of estimated USD$14.4 billion (RM63.5 billion), according to Bloomberg. Dubbed “the Arabian Warren Buffett”, the royal’s previous net worth was USD$18.7 billion, richer than he is today but after his arrest in an anti-corruption sweep back in 2017, his fortune plummeted.
4. Prince Karim al-Husayni, Aga Khan IV: Up to $16.8 billion (RM72.6 billion)

The 49th hereditary Imam of the Ismaili Muslims is apparently well-known for having a lavish lifestyle, having owned several yachts and private jets. Prince Karim’s tremendous wealth is partially thanks to his 15 million followers who have all reportedly donated 10% of their income to this religious leader.
In fact, he is so rich that it is difficult for anyone to narrow down exactly how much his net worth is. According to Love Money, he could be worth up to $16.8 billion (RM72.6 billion).
3. King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia: Up to $20 billion (RM90 billion)

According to the original article, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is reported to be worth as much as USD$20 billion (RM90 billion), making him the richest member of the USD$1.4 trillion Saudi Royal Family. It is said that this particular monarch’s wealth comes from his nation’s oil reserves.
If you’re wondering what he does with the money, apparently, he once purchased a $110 million superyacht and a Boeing 747 private jet. Truly, a lifestyle fit for a king.
2. Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan of Brunei: $30 billion (RM136 billion)

Taking the No. 2 spot is none other than the Sultan of Brunei himself, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. Apart from owning the largest luxury car collection in the world, Sultan Hassanal, who is currently the longest-reigning monarch alive, also lives in the Istana Nurul Iman palace which is said to be the largest residential palace in the world.
Just like the Saudi Arabian royals, his wealth is also built on oil. However, his fortune declined after oil production was waned over the years. Despite the decline, Sultan Hassanal still remains one of the richest royals in the world with a net worth of USD$30 billion (RM136 billion) according to Celebrity Net Worth.
