Millionaires, billionaires, and trillionaires are often the envy of the public when they can simply afford to own the most expensive and rare items in the world, even if those items are not for sale. Luxury fashion accessories like handbags are no exceptions and there are only a handful of people who own these ridiculously expensive bags.

Birkin bags are one the most sought after luxury bags in the world, so let’s see which famous people actually own at least one of them. Here’s a hint: one of them is a Malaysian, who is married to a former Prime Minister.

1. Hermes Birkin Bag by Ginza Tanaka

This specific Hermes Birkin bag used to be known as the most expensive handbag in the world for years since it debuted. While that title has now been passed down to another, this bag designed by Japanese designer Ginza Tanaka, however, still remains as the most expensive Birkin handbag in the world.

With a price of USD$ 1.4 million (RM6.5 million), the bag is made out of platinum with a detachable diamond bag strap that can be worn as a necklace or bracelet. It also comes with a detachable 8-carat pear-shaped pendant. Surprisingly for some reason, no one has ever owned this luxury handbag, or at least, no one was ever seen in public with it.

2. Niloticus Crocodile Himalaya Birkin

On to the second most expensive Birkin bag which is the Niloticus Crocodile Himalaya Birkin. This bag is a bag for billionaires as it’s known as one of the Holy Grails in a handbag collection. Priced at USD$440,000 (over RM2 million), this bag has been owned by quite a few famous people.

Members of the Kardashian-Jenner family, more specifically Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner, and Kim Kardashian have been seen out in public rocking this specific Birkin bag. As someone who owns over 100 Birkin Bags, it’s no surprise that former Spice Girls Victoria Beckham also owns a Niloticus Crocodile Himalaya Birkin. Singaporean influencer Jamie Chua once posted her collection of this bag on Instagram calling them her Holy Grails.

3. Fuchsia Diamond-Studded Hermes Birkin

Now, the Fuchsia Diamond-Studded Hermes Birkin is a bag that many Malaysians are familiar with, for a very specific reason. Known as the third most expensive Birkin bag, it was previously sold at USD$222,000 (over RM1 million) in an auction in Hong Kong back in 2015. The bag is said to come with 18-carat white gold and diamonds.

A few celebs have owned this kind of bag but not in this specific colour. Apparently, the only known famous person to own this specific bag was none other than Rosmah Mansor, wife of former Prime Minister Najib Razak. Her collection of Birkin bags was confiscated by authorities due to a controversial case. One of the 284 luxury bags seized was the Fuchsia Diamond-Studded Hermes Birkin.
