TikTok Mom Slammed For Risking Toddler’s Safety For Content

Admit it, you’ve probably spent too much time scrolling TikTok even though you have other work to do. We don’t blame you, the platform is addictive, with its creative user-generated content. It’s hard to stay away from the app since they’re always new trends emerging on TikTok.

One such trend now is wearing a scarf in the car after the music’s beat drops. Of course, TikTok user @azlienalegacy caught onto the trend. However, her video quickly nabbed the attention of netizens as she roped her toddler into the trend too!

The short video showed TikTok user @azlienalegacy in the car with her husband and her toddler. After the beat drops with Mike Posner’s “Please Don’t Go”, the trio were all wearing scarves wrapped around their head and tied at the chin. While @azlienalegacy and her husband maintain a straight face through the change, the toddler looked confused. Netizens joked that the kid was trying to figure out which one is mom.

Although plenty of netizens gushed about how cute the kid’s reaction was, there were several who were concerned about the toddler’s safety. In the video, the child was not seated in a baby car seat. Instead, the toddler was positioned between the parents, with only the father’s arm acting as a seatbelt. Some even noted that @azlienalegacy herself was not wearing a seatbelt.

These netizens were not impressed with TikTok user @azlienalegacy blatant disregard for her toddler’s safety. “The car seat seems expensive,” Twitter user @rabiahalipah noted. “Where’s the baby car seat? It would be concerning if the car were to break suddenly.”

Another Twitter user @mohdyunuszaki bluntly commented, “Bad parenting.” “I know it’s tagged because it’s cute,” Twitter user @amir_rool admitted. “But it’s still scary to watch.” Check out comments from others who felt the same way:

While TikTok challenges can be fun, it isn’t worth the risk. It especially isn’t worth risking your toddler for the trend either.

Netizens hope these parents will take better care of their toddler and add a baby car seat to avoid accidents. After all, prevention is better than cure. Watch @azlienalegacy’s TikTok video here:

Update (16th April):

TikTok user @azlienalegacy has personally clarified to us that she did consider the safety of her family while filming the less-than-a-minute video. While she was in charge of filming the video, her husband was focused on driving the car.

According to her, the hubby was driving very slowly around their neighbourhood, which was empty at the time and has wide roads. She insists that they would never do anything to endanger their child.
