TikTok Is Losing Its Sh*t Over Aloe Vera Juice. Should YOU?

Whether you have acne-prone skin or a poor digestive system, achieving good health requires solutions that you’ll find through a lot of dietary and lifestyle trial and error. But if you’re on TikTok, chances are, you’ve heard of a viral craze that suggests that drinking a shot of aloe vera juice in the morning and at night can treat acne. Juice from the aloe vera plant has long been valued for its nutritional and anti-inflammatory properties. However, thanks to TikTok, there’s now an increased demand for the multipurpose juice.

TikTok is now all about how consuming aloe vera juice helps prevent breakouts, creates a luminous complexion, and promotes smooth skin texture. It seems too good to be true, right? Not according to TikToker Bria Lemirande, who says she consumes an ounce of aloe vera juice every morning and evening to treat her skin. Since her surprising declaration, countless netizens have embraced the fad. Although the advantages of this TikTok craze are alluring, there has only been a small number of studies on aloe vera juice’s effects on skin.

Still – if you want to give the trend a try, there’s no harm. The problem may be getting your hands on aloe vera juice, now that it’s a hot commodity. But no worries – making your own aloe vera juice is super easy and a way healthier option that store-bought varieties. Aloe vera juice typically contains the gel from the plant, which is then diluted with water. Occasionally, sweeteners are added to mask the plant’s inherently bitter flavour. Some turn it into a smoothie for easier consumption.

Of course, the aloe vera plant itself has numerous benefits that we already know about. There are many different substances found in aloe vera plants, including vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. And because it contains antioxidants that extend shelf life, the aloe plant is frequently utilized in cosmetics, medications, and foods. It has also been discovered to have anti-inflammatory qualities.

TikTokers are also singing aloe vera juice’s praises for being great with digestive issues. Aloe vera juice is a natural laxative, which is great when you’re experiencing constipation – but not so good if you have regular bowel motions. It’s advised that you consume the “inner leaf” of the aloe vera rather than the “whole leaf” to prevent upsetting your system. It has a milder flavour and is less likely to result in loose stools.

Still other TikTokers are asserting that aloe vera juice can help control psoriasis symptoms.

So you’ve heard the testimonials, and there’s no doubt that aloe vera juice is highly beneficial to your health. But just like every medication, you’ll need to test it before consuming in large amounts. To see how you react to it, start with two ounces per day and work your way up to four ounces. People adjust differently because everyone has a varied reaction to certain foods, herbs, and beverages. Another point to note is that if you’re on medication, it’s a good idea to speak with your doctor before incorporating aloe vera into your diet.
