Another week, another whirlwind of totally EXTRA events! We were here, there and everywhere!

We rocked the TikTok Creator Awards 2024; tried UNIQLO’s Fall/Winter 2024 Preview on for size; epically geeked out at HoyoFEST 2024; and more. We were on the scene, and vibing like a boss! Just check out our social diary for this past week (don’t be jelly!):


Under Armour’s SlipSpeed Mega Pre-launch

We were front and centre at the recent pre-launch event of Under Armour’s latest UA SlipSpeed Mega, a performance trainer that reimagines traditional training shoes with options for all-day wear. Featuring signature UA Flow and Iso-Chill technologies, the BOA® Fit System, and a new “crushable” heel design, this footwear is packed with some of Under Armour’s most innovative features to push the boundaries of performance here in Malaysia.

Held at Starhill Piazza, the event saw guests treated to a “Speedwalk” runway, aimed at showcasing the versatility and style of the UA SlipSpeed Mega, that can be easily incorporated into the everyday wardrobe. Six local content creators modeled the UA SlipSpeed Mega paired with sportstyle apparel from the UA Unstoppable collection, demonstrating how the shoes can seamlessly fit into any lifestyle.

UNIQLO Fall/Winter 2024 Preview

UNIQLO introduced its 2024 Fall/Winter LifeWear collection at Blossom A GlassMansion recently, and we were blown away. Commemorating the brand’s 40th anniversary, the collection centers around the theme of “Timeless Tones”, reimagining LifeWear basics with inspiration drawn from the unique styles of historic capitals like Edinburgh and Stockholm.

The collection represents a fresh approach to LifeWear, featuring timeless classics reimagined with modern twists. Sophisticated colours, styling, and innovative materials, all applied to traditional items, showcase effortless elegance and easy layering. Every piece in the classic LifeWear collection is designed with new silhouettes and sophisticated styling, harmonising versatility and diversity throughout the Fall/Winter season.

“TWILIGHT” Exhibit At REXPERIENCE

Last year, we were enthralled by the incredible “Other World” light show exhibit at REXPERIENCE, REXKL. This week, we were amazed once more with the venue’s “TWILIGHT” exhibition, which began on 15th August. This season artfully interlaces the threads of tradition and modernity, emotion and technology, past and future, showcasing innovative artistry from both local and global artists.

Be sure to grab your tickets and join in on the immersive experience by traversing the corridors of Malaysian history through the lens of traditional batik art and contemporary digital storytelling with “Hanya Batik” and “Geometry of Emotion” by Fabien Bouchard and Mathieu Pernaud. TikTok Creators Awards 2024

We attended the highly-anticipated TikTok Awards Malaysia 2024, a celebration of the vibrant Malaysian creator community, and it was a blast. Held at Dewan Merdeka, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, this year’s event, themed “Celebrating New Dreams,” brought together top Malaysian creators, celebrities, and fans for a night of unforgettable entertainment. Hosts Che Puan Sarimah Ibrahim and Janna Nick led the ceremony, which highlighted the rich cultural diversity of Malaysia through inspiring content that resonates both locally and globally. The evening featured well-loved celebrities like Shaheizy Sam, Bella Astillah, and Faizal Tahir, and red carpet glamour was added by TikTok creators Ceddy Ang and Ain Edruce.

The awards were split into two segments: People’s Choice Awards, where fans voted for their favourite creators, and Judge’s Pick Awards, decided by a panel that included Media Prima’s Nini Yusof and TikTok’s Angga Anugrah Putra. A special spotlight was given to the Changemaker of the Year award, recognising @lokohopunohgroup for their environmental efforts in Terengganu and @braderwheelchair for advocating for the differently-abled community. The night was further amplified by electrifying performances from artists like Zubir Khan and Aina Abdul, bringing trending TikTok hits to life on stage. This celebration of Malaysia’s diverse talents was made possible through collaborations with TV3 and other key sponsors, ensuring a memorable night for all.

YSL Beauty Experience @ The Exchange TRX

Renowned luxury beauty brand YSL (Yves Saint Laurent) invited us for an exclusive tour of their boutique at The Exchange TRX as part of the mall’s Beauty Unbound campaign. During the tour, we got to experience the store’s exclusive offerings, including trying out the YSL Skin Edge service, which is only available at the The Exchange TRX boutique.

We also got to try and test out the brand’s latest releases, including the Lines Liberated waterproof eyeliner pencil and the new shades from the Couture Mini Clutch line.

Guerlain Launches Rouge G Lipsticks & Makeup Products

Rouge G takes pride of place in this unprecedented autumnal collection, relaunched in 2024 with a modernised design – featuring a golden finish and streamlined lines – that is engravable and customisable with nine different designs. The iconic lipstick now boasts an ultra-luxurious formula, composed of 89% skincare ingredients, enriched with an oleo-extract of lily and sweet almond oil.

 

The collection also includes the Parure Gold Cushion Marmo Glow foundation in its best-selling 00N shade, decorated with the Marmo motif, and the Météorites pearls of powder in a new case reflecting the legendary print. The Marmo Swirl brush, engraved with the Guerlain logo and accompanied by a fabric pouch, completes the collection, turning these beauty essentials into true fashion accessories.

“Pavilion Loves Sustainability” Campaign Launch

We had the honour of attending the “Pavilion Loves Sustainability” event at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur with the spirit of celebrating 67 years of Malaysia’s independence under the theme “Malaysia Madani: Jiwa Merdeka.” This vibrant initiative, in partnership with Istana Budaya, is part of Pavilion REIT’s ongoing commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) efforts. From 12th to 18th August 2024, the pop-up at Pavilion KL’s Centre Court features a variety of eco-conscious activities and displays, including DIY artwork stations, sustainable product showcases, and recycling programmes, all supported by esteemed partners like Maybank, Spritzer, and eco-friendly tenants.

The event also showcased a stunning art display along the Spanish Steps, creatively using upcycled materials to represent the Malaysian flag. The festivities were further elevated by a captivating performance from Istana Budaya’s 24-piece Traditional Orchestra Malaysia, accompanied by the patriotic anthem “Saya Anak Malaysia” performed by choirs and Pavilion REIT employees, showcasing the patriotic spirit and unity of Malaysians.

Hausboom Music Festival 2024 Colours Of Life Press Conference

We attended the press conference for the highly-anticipated “Hausboom Music Festival 2024 Colours Of Life”, set to take place on the 5th and 6th of October at KL Base. This year’s festival promises an extraordinary lineup, featuring 32 artists from both Malaysia and Indonesia. Fans can look forward to performances by local legends like Wings, Ruffedge, and Dato’ Zainal Abidin, alongside fan favourites such as Bunkface, Masdo, and Joe Flizzow, among many others.

But the excitement doesn’t stop at the music. The festival will also host the “Hausboom Lokal Fest”, which will bring together 110 local businesses, including renowned Malaysian streetwear brands like SVG and Hikari, along with 40 thrift store vendors. To top it all off, attendees will be able to indulge in a diverse culinary experience with 30 different local food vendors, including popular names like Kampong Kravers and Grill Haven, ensuring a vibrant and complete festival experience.

Kwai Chai Hong’s “Drama Queen” Installation

Kwai Chai Hong is revitalising Chinese Opera with its new Mid-Autumn art installation, “Drama Queen 月映戲伶”, which will be up from 16th August to 22nd September 2024. The exhibit aims to highlight the splendour of Chinese Opera, a rich artform combining music, dance, martial arts, acrobatics, and literature that dates back to the Three Kingdoms Period (A.D. 220 – 265).

In response to the artform’s decline in Malaysia due to modernisation and reduced interest among the youth, Kwai Chai Hong is working with local artist Tan Sher Lynn and Creative Technologist from FABU, supported by Budget 2024, Think City, and the Ministry of Finance, to attract a new generation. The installation will be open daily from 9am to 12am. Additionally, the Kam Sin Kiew Art Crew, one of the last Cantonese Opera troupes, will perform the scene “Fragrant Sacrifice 香夭” from “Princess Flower 帝女花” on 24th and 31st August 2024.

HoyoFEST 2024 @ Pavilion Bukit Jalil 

HoyoFEST is back! Fans of the Hoyoverse games will have the best time when they drop by Pavilion Bukit Jalil from now until 19th August (Monday). Be sure to visit each booth of every game, like “Honkai Impact 3rd”, “Tears of Themis”, “Genshin Impact”, “Honkai Impact: Star Rail” and “Zenless Zone Zero”; and participate in all the activities to collect limited-edition prizes!

Not only that, if you’re up for the challenge, you can get up on stage, log in to your game accounts and showcase your skills in front of all the fans gathered at the event. Jujutsu Kaisen Exhibition @ Fahrenheit88

Attention all manga and anime fans! Get ready to experience the world of “Jujutsu Kaisen” with the newly-opened limited-time exhibition at Fahrenheit88, Bukit Bintang! Be enchanted by over 100 exclusive exhibits imported from Japan, showcasing the artistic brilliance of the animation of the beloved anime. On top of that, you’ll be able to admire over 100 rare animation manuscripts created by the MAPPA animation team members.

Of course, no exhibition is complete without the immersive photo zones and scenery settings inspired by “Jujutsu Kaisen”. These showcases aim to breathe life into the scenes where you can explore details of key environments from the series, experiencing the atmosphere and ambience of the memorable moments firsthand.
