#TheRainbowSkywalk: Highest Skywalk In Malaysia Set To Open On Top Of Penang’s KOMTAR Building

If you’ve enjoyed standing inside a transparent glass box while enjoying a spectacular 360 degrees view of the Klang Valley at KL Tower’s Skybox, then we’ve got some exciting news for you.

Penang’s KOMTAR – an acronym for Kompleks Tun Abdul Razak – building stands at 232 metres. It is the 6th tallest skyscraper in Malaysia and has the highest skywalk to date. Very few have ever been to the top since its inception in 1985. But soon, the public can access the tower’s latest addition: The Rainbow Skywalk.

Located on the 68th floor of the building, The Rainbow Skywalk is a semi-circle glass path that juts several metres out of the building. If you’re doubtful whether the pathway is secure enough, fret not; it is perfectly safe and will not crack under pressure.

According to The Star, the material used to build the pathway was the same glass used to make the Grand Canyon Skywalk in America. The glass was heat-treated, temper-proofed, and laminated by Universiti Sains Malaysia through a series of vibration, wind and pendulum tests.

“Komtar is the pride of Penangites. It was once the tallest building in South-East Asia. When we first went up, the view took our breath away and we instantly started thinking of how we can get people to enjoy their trip to the top,” Only World Group (OWG) chief operating officer Datuk Jean Koh was quoted as saying.

Brought to you by OWG, the details for The Rainbow Skywalk are as follows:
