HyunA (현아) and Dawn (real name Kim Hyojong, 김효종) are officially calling it quits! For those who don’t know, the pair had been dating for more than five years, before they decided to get engaged earlier this year.
Both idols were also among the few K-pop couples to date publicly. The couple revealed that they were dating in August 2018. The couple started dating in May 2016. They then announced their engagement in February, after six years of dating.
The former 4Minute member was the first to break the news to her fans. She wrote, “We broke up. We’ve decided to be good friends and coworkers. Thank you all for being supportive of our relationship.” Shockingly, DAWN was also spotted “responding” to the announcement by liking HyunA’s post, further signaling the end of their long-term relationship.
Needless to say, the news came as a shock to many fans. Most of them have taken to Twitter to express their disbelief over the matter. “HyunA and DAWN breaking up just mean that love is just a concept and it’s not real. Nothing is real. Everything is a lie,” one commenter wrote on Twitter.

Not too long after HyunA posted on her socials, various K-netizens gathered in online communities where they revisited the couple’s different opinions regarding marriage. While DAWN had publicly expressed his intentions of taking their relationship to the next level, HyunA, on the other hand, seemed a bit hesitant when it comes to marriage.
During her appearance on “Radio Star”, she was asked about marriage. The “Bubble Pop” singer explained, “I have been proposed to not too long ago.” During the session, another guest also discussed the difficulties of being married. HyunA then professed that she doesn’t want to get married, as she felt that there will be twice as much work when it comes to taking care of another person.

DAWN has posted for the first time since the news of him and HyunA breaking up made the headlines. In his post, the former PENTAGON appeared to call a netizen out for spreading false rumours about the couple. Through a post on Instagram, the netizen (posing as DAWN) claimed that the “Hot Issue” rapper had cheated on him.
