Regardless of whether you’re in the city or on a tropical island, hotels and resorts are meant to be peaceful, relaxing places where you can unwind and leave your worries behind. That said, it doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t encounter any terrifying experiences during your stay. We’ve all heard plenty of stories about haunted hotels, but this incident could have easily cost someone their life and for once, the ghosts aren’t to blame.
In the early hours of Wednesday (29th October), a delivery rider known as @/akasyarashid shared on Threads how the lobby roof of the iconic The Majestic Hotel in Kuala Lumpur collapsed just as he arrived to complete his delivery. According to the timestamp of his post, the incident occurred around 3am that morning.

The rider shared several photos of the aftermath and expressed his gratitude that he and everyone nearby were unharmed. “The moment I arrived at the area, the roof suddenly collapsed. I immediately recited a prayer. Thank goodness the staff were safe, but it made me wonder how this could have happened. It was really upsetting,” he wrote.
Later that day, a Reddit user posted a photo taken from above, presumably from their hotel room, showing the clean-up process, with cranes lifting the damaged structure. The image also showed that the road leading in and out of the hotel had been barricaded while the clean-up was underway. Strangely, the Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.

Akasya’s post quickly went viral, with netizens expressing concern over the incident and the safety of the hotel’s guests. One person, who claimed to have been staying at the hotel, recalled hearing a loud crash or explosion at around 3am. However, when they called the front desk, the staff on duty reassured them that there was nothing to worry about. Others commented that they had now reconsidered their plans to stay at the hotel for their upcoming holidays.
We’re glad to know that no one got hurt when it happened. Let’s hope that The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur will come forward to explain the situation and have everything fixed and improved to ensure everyone’s safety.
