In this day and age, there are plenty of different cafes to suit different tastes. Whether you’re looking for a fun time at a quirky spot, a pet-centric place or even just a nice eatery to hang out at, there are plenty of choices. But, if you’re looking for an aesthetic, quaint café, this is the place for you!

The Lemon Tree recently opened their second outlet at the PARKROYAL COLLECTION. Accessible by various transport means, this little café is well known for its artisanal pastry and coffee. Well, we got an opportunity to check the place out for ourselves and here’s our honest opinion of it.

Literally tucked away in a corner of the hotel, The Lemon Tree is unmistakable. The petite café hosts a dedicated lemon tree theme, with plenty of greenery and lemon bushes about. The crowning jewel would have to be the eye-catching lemon tree situated in the middle of the main room. There’s plenty of space beneath it for a nice photo op.

We’ll admit that the area is a little cramped, and not suitable for large groups. However, if you’re looking for a nice place to hold a meet-up with a small bunch of friends, this would be the perfect place. It’s cozy, offers some semblance of privacy and has great food and drinks for a pleasant meal.

Speaking of food, we’ll be honest, their main fare isn’t a lot. You can only choose between their sourdough baked crusts, Sausage and Garlic Aioli or their Signature Salmon Croissant. However, each dish still makes for a filling meal with a variety of pleasing flavours.

If you’re interested in having something savoury, we would suggest either the Yes Cheese baked crust or the Signature Salmon Croissant. The mix of baked cheese with nuts is a delight in the mouth. On the other hand, the Salmon Croissant is definitely a go-to for salmon lovers.

For those who prefer having something sweet, the nutella and macadamia baked crust is a must-try. The  combination of nutella and nuts forms a sweet surprise, which is well-balanced against the sourdough crust. Also, the dish is sprinkled with raisins to add some natural sweetness to the overall taste.

Their main fare may not be much, but that’s because they are ensuring you leave plenty of room for dessert. And their dessert menu is extensive. Regretfully, we weren’t able to try everything, but we did get to try a few signature favourites, and we can see why they are so!

Of course, The Lemon Tree’s signature dessert is their lemon drizzle cake. It certainly lives up to its name with a strong lemon flavour. Although it is tangy, the citrus taste is not overwhelming in the slightest. Customers can also control the amount of lemon syrup poured on the dessert, to ensure the taste is to their liking.

The Tiramisu Cruffin and Biscoff Pecan Cake will please those with a sweet tooth. It’s an added bonus if you like coffee as both desserts have a tinge of coffee flavour in them. The Tiramisu Cruffin is soft with a sugary tiramisu centre, and is topped with fruits for a fresh flavour. On the other hand, the Biscoff Pecan cake boasts a rich mouthful of biscoff and chocolate, with pecans adding a crunchy texture to the decadent dessert.

Overall, we definitely think The Lemon Tree is a café worth visiting, be it alone or with a friend. With it’s warm and cozy atmosphere, it’s easy to imagine yourself whiling the hours away in this quaint place. Who knows, we might see you there on a sunny afternoon soon!
