The much anticipated new Japanese Netflix show is queer and we’re here – to watch every episode and fall in love with the men. Netflix has released their latest dating show, “The Boyfriend” (ボーイフレンド), a dating show compiled of 9 insanely attractive men looking for love and friendship during the summer.
Over 10 episodes, the boys will be placed on a private island where they will have to work in a coffee shop together to further build their relationship with one another and in hopes of something more serious. However the plot of the show is not entirely on romance, but for these 9 men to forge a bond beyond romance, for them to experience personal growth together. With that being said, let’s dive into these 9 works of God.
Alan Takahashi

Starting off hot! Introducing the mixed blood hottie Alan Takahashi. Alan is a 29-year-old IT company employee from Brazil. It looks like he’s not just a pretty face but a pretty face with brains – the full combo.
Dai Nakai

Among the two youngest in the show is Dai Nakai, a 22-year-old university student. With his innocent face but rock hard abs, Dai is the perfect addition to the show, adding that “soft boy” touch to the cast.
Gensei Azumai

This 34-year-old is anyone’s dream boyfriend – hot, sexy, and can do your hair and makeup? Sounds like the full package! Gensei Azumai is a hair and makeup artist from Taiwan so we can definitely expect his hair to always be looking “reem”.
Ikuo

This 22-year-old is a food service industry worker. Ikuo, also being the youngest in the cast, would probably bond the most with his fellow islander, Dai, given that both are the same age.
Kazuto

Kazuto is a 27-year-old Japanese cuisine chef, who would not only win over our hearts but win over our stomachs as well. It’s going to be a gastronomical time with Kazuto on the show.
Ryota

This 28-year-old model serves looks and face all over his social media, but also lives a double life serving coffee. Ryota is also a barista when he’s not posing for a camera. He also has an aura that draws people to him. If you’ve watched the first few episodes, Ryota is the go-to person when it comes to discussing personal issues.
Shun Nakanishi

23-year-old artist who has the face painted by an artist, Shun Nakanishi has been a fan favourite since the show aired. Many fans on social media have been pairing both him and Dai together making them everyone’s OTP. Growing up, Shun had a tough childhood in an orphanage. His backstory was probably what endeared him to so many audience across the globe.
Taeheon

34-year-old Taeheon is a designer from Korea, making him the ‘Oppa’ on the show and in our hearts! Judging from his Instagram, Taeheon manages to keep his body fit and is dedicated to his fitness and healthy lifestyle living.
Usak

Leaving the best for last, and the oldest out of the boys, is 36-year-old go-go dancer, Usak. With his huge online personality, Usak does not only bring fire to the stage, but will be bringing fire to the show with his dance moves and body. Fun fact, this gym freak needs his daily chicken smoothie (which we still can’t get over – yuck).
After meeting the boys in the hit show “The Boyfriend” you can head over to Netflix and binge watch the series. Who do you think was the best in the show? and which couple we’re you rooting for the most?
