Someone liked it and put a ring on it. By it we mean Mader Sitang’s finger.
That’s right peeps, the Thailand internet sensation recently tied the knot with her younger boyfriend. The couple has reportedly been together for a decade now.
On 25th December 2018, Thailand’s civil partnership bill was approved by the Cabinet – therefore giving access to same-sex couples to register their marriage and also the right to make joint medical decisions as well as own and inherit property.
“There are couples who have been together for 15 years, 20 years, with no recognition or legal protection; they can finally breathe more easily,” Vitaya Saeng-Aroon, a director at the Bangkok Rainbow Organization, told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
Mader Sitang, whose real name is Sitagsus Bao or Sitang Buathong, had previously express her desire to get married to the love of her life. She born a male but always felt like a daughter, having developed a liking to skirts and high heels since young.
Her family, however, wasn’t so accepting. Apple Daily reported that Mader Sitang initially wanted to become a fashion designer. Due to the pressure from the family, she relented and took up law instead.
It was only after her mother had passed away, the famous internet sensation decided to embrace sexuality and freedom of expression. We previously wrote that Mader Sitang made her transition around the age of 40.
Mader Sitang previously revealed that she and her current hubby knew each other from living on the same street. He made the first move and the rest is history. She’s a testament that no matter how old, it’s never too late to find love.
