Last year, renowned Taiwanese news anchor Sisy Chen (陈文茜) revealed to the public her lung cancer diagnosis. Despite her condition, the media personality continued to present her weekly news show. However, her recent social postings suggest she may not have much time left.
According to reports, Sisy’s cancer has worsened since her diagnosis announcement in December. The former politician is currently receiving immunotherapy at the National Taiwan University Hospital for stage four lung melanoma. Sisy was previously diagnosed with stage one lung adenocarcinoma in 2019 but underwent surgery to remove the tumour. While receiving treatment, she has been posting on her Facebook to share updates on her status.

However, the public figure’s recent postings have garnered media attention. In her posting dated 8th January 2025 (Wednesday), Sisy spoke about an article about a Michelin-star chef who cooked for individuals in hospice care until the day they passed. She reflected on the article, writing, “When life finally comes to an end, many things are no longer emotions, no longer sighs, but real annihilation, love, hate, resentment. Everything that we must say goodbye (to)”.
She continued to speak about death, saying, “No matter if you want to or not, if you’re ready to let go or not, or if you’re afraid or not, death will happen.” In another post, Sisy also urged people to “not dwell in sadness, fear or even anger. We are all running out of time, put more thought into what part you should play in this world.”. The news anchor’s recent cryptic posting has many netizens concerned the television icon is making preparations for her passing.

Sisy previously made headlines over her unconventional outlook on death. After revealing her diagnosis, the media personality shared the reason for her calm reaction to her disease. She said she understands how life works, saying everyone will pass away – just when and how. However, Sisy isn’t too pessimistic about her future, saying she’s just going with the flow.
Fans have since shown support for Sisy and sent her well wishes as she receives treatment. Many also said her outlook on life and death is admirable, adding that her words have been encouraging. Whatever happens, we wish Sisy all the best.
