Many food lovers yearn to dine at a Michelin-starred restaurant, as it’s considered a threshold for fine dining. However, Taiwanese actress Joe Chen’s (陈乔恩) recent visit to a Michelin-starred restaurant left her with a less-than-satisfactory experience.
The actress recently dined at the Molino de Urdániz in Taipei to celebrate her husband Alan Chen’s (曾伟昌) birthday. According to reports, the Spanish restaurant has two Michelin Stars, signifying a quality dining experience. On her Instagram, Joe shared her review, including pictures of the meals. Initially, the actress praised the first and second courses, saying they were unique and tasted great.
However, Joe lamented that the dishes started to get boring from then on. The star said that all the dishes were served cold, which she wasn’t fond of. She further explained that all the dishes felt repetitive because of the temperature, even if they had different flavours. Despite not being satisfied with the meal, the 45-year-old said her disappointment may be because the restaurant wasn’t catering to Asian tastes.
Unfortunately, the ambience in the restaurant was unfavourable either because Joe said a toddler in one of the rooms was causing a lot of noise with their constant crying. Joe revealed she and Alan headed to another restaurant right after dinner to make up for an unsatisfying dining experience. The couple ordered old-school Taiwanese steak, which Joe said satisfied her craving for a hot dish.
Many fans have reacted to the actress’ post, sharing mixed opinions. Some netizens agreed with Joe’s complaint about cold food, saying that meals should be hot to taste good. Meanwhile, others lamented the small portion of each dish, saying it looked unfulfilling. However, some said the food was visually appealing, noting the skilful plating and colourful appearance.
